FBLA Accolades

I am so excited to share with you the results of Edison Future Business Leaders of America's participation in the 2021 Virginia FBLA State Leadership Conference! Even though it was a tough year with this year's chapter activities, projects, and competitive events were completely virtual, Edison FBLA was named Virginia's MOST OUTSTANDING HONOR CHAPTER for 2021 on April 23, 2021 at the closing session of the State Leadership Conference. This rare honor is a result of years of work, reflection, and refinement by students and advisers, present and past. The previous title winner had held the Most Outstanding Chapter designation since 2012.

Edison FBLA won more competitive events than any other FCPS school, and the second-most competitive events in all of Virginia. More Edison students participated in and won SLC events than at any time in school history (if I’m not mistaken).

Senior Jorge Mansilla served as Virginia FBLA's Vice President Representing the Northern Virginia Region and Northern Virginia Regional President. Jorge and his team have passed the torch to a new team of state officers. I am proud to announce that freshman Katrina Chen will serve as an at large state officer, and freshman Yaqeen Bahjat will assume Jorge's position as State Vice President Representing the Northern Virginia Region/Northern Virginia Regional President.

Our chapter's projects this year received outstanding awards. In the following chapter events, students plan, implement, and run projects around a specific topic, and then must document their project's successes and growth opportunities through a 15-page report.

Edison's chapter project results were the following:

Edison FBLA surely stood out from the crowd as the winners of this year's state competitive events program were called. FBLA’s competitive events program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas and enhance the Business and Information Technology curriculum. FBLA competitive events also prepare students for successful careers in business by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment.

Congratulations to our winners and participants in the competitive events program!
