Edison High School, a USDA People's Garden and Virginia Naturally Awardee, exemplifies exceptional environmental stewardship. Their story is shared within the school community and at the district level through Get2Green events. Environmental Club officers promote their efforts via meetings and social media. Students and custodial staff enhanced their waste and recycling program, and student leaders organized a winter clothing drive to divert textile waste. Innovatively, students repurposed used paper for origami gifts for teachers. With Caring for the Watershed funds, they acquired trash grabbers for a lake clean-up. The school also hosts a 4H club, working on composting, bird feeders, plantings, and other biodiversity projects. These initiatives underscore Edison High School's commitment to student-led environmental action, ensuring the longevity and impact of their stewardship efforts.
We are proud of all the work you have accomplished this year. We look forward to your participation and continued action in the next school year.
