Yearbook Sale Information

ACT FAST! The yearbook is currently ON SALE. For only $75, you can reserve your copy now.

Our yearbook staff is already hard at work creating a yearbook reflecting the narratives of scholarship and socializing, friendship and family, reunion and separation. This book bears all the more significance given the current strangeness of our time apart. This colorful student-made primary source document will highlight the power of our community to thrive even when challenged, and serve as a living memory of a weird, but wonderful school year.

PLEASE NOTE: All yearbook sales end Thursday, April 29, 2021. We cannot guarantee that there will be yearbooks available at distribution, but should any copies be available, the final distribution price is $80. Distribution date still to be determined. Please check back here closer to the end of the school year for updates.

Instructions on how to self-submit your photo

NEW! Submit your own portrait to the yearbook

The Talon yearbook staff would like to include ALL our students in the 2020-21 yearbook.

Coverage is the most important element, and we would love as many as possible to be included.

The yearbook is a school community historical reference document and therefore uniformity and consistency are paramount in the context of image selection and usage. If your portraits are taken by Lifetouch, your yearbook portrait is guaranteed to meet the Edison High School yearbook requirements listed below and will be submitted by the scheduled deadline.

If your student was NOT photographed by Lifetouch, our chosen school photographer, we ask you to submit a portrait through Herff Jones's eShare application. The deadline for eShare portrait submissions is Friday, March 26, 2021.

Whether the portrait was taken by another professional photographer (not associated with the school) or you take the picture yourself, as long as it meets the specifications outlined below, we can include it in the 2020-21 yearbook.

Portraits must be submitted through Herff Jones eShare application

You may access the eShare application in a variety of ways:

PORTRAIT SPECIFICATIONS

BACKGROUND: Plain/neutral background preferred (we recommend blue)

POSE: Full face view, facing forward. Head and shoulder shots ONLY. Hands should not be visible. No hats. No sport team logos. No props (i.e. sport equipment, toys, wigs, benches, chairs, etc.). No weapons or hand signs of any kind.

DRESS: Portraits are a more formal picture. Solid colored dress shirts/tops work well for the camera; jackets and ties are optional. YOU DEFINITELY DO NOT NEED TO RENT SPECIAL CLOTHING. Very little of the top shows so what's important is the neckline (nothing too low cut or busy - a simple solid colored top will look great and sleeve length doesn’t matter).

GENTLEMEN: Collared shirt and tie with a suit coat or jacket (preferred but optional) - Dark color and non-patterned fabrics that don’t reflect light recommended

LADIES: Solid colored blouse or dress - Dark color and non-patterned fabrics that don’t reflect light recommended

NOTE ABOUT DRESS CODE: Edison reserves the right to exclude a senior portrait from the yearbook publication if clothing choices do not follow the official FCPS dress code policy as outlined in the Student Rights & Responsibilities document.

Clothing and accessories should not:

  • Display vulgar, discriminatory, or obscene language or images
  • Promote illegal or violent conduct
  • Contain threats or gang symbols
  • Promote the unlawful use of weapons, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or drug paraphernalia
  • Expose private parts or show an excessive amount of bare skin.
  • Contain studs
  • Include hats or other head coverings unless worn for significant religious, cultural, or medical purposes

APPROXIMATE SIZE: The printed photo will be 4 picas wide x 5 picas long (larger images can be sized to fit in allotted space). This is approximately 5/8 inch wide by 3/4 inch long. The head size is approximately 1/2 inch from top of the head to bottom of the chin.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PORTRAIT TO THE YEARBOOK:

  • Only digital photos will be accepted.
  • Color photos only
  • No creative filters or photographic treatments
  • Photos must be submitted in jpeg, jpg or png format, be as close to 640x800 pixels and 300dpi as possible.
  • Portraits must be submitted through Herff Jones eShare application
  • You may access the eShare application in a variety of ways:
  • On the web at www.hjeshare.com. Use Edison’s school code, 5211.
  • On the mobile app for iPhone or Android. Please search HJ eShare in your App Store. It is a free app. Use the school code, 5211.
  • Check out this how-to video: https://herffjones.wistia.com/medias/qaz0mrbp43.

DEADLINE: The yearbook staff must receive all photographs by Friday, March 26, 2021 in order for the picture to be included in the yearbook.

Photos that do not fulfill the above requirements will NOT be accepted.

As a reminder, the deadline to submit a portrait through eShare is Friday, March 26, 2021
