Congratulations to Latin Language Teacher Cristina Procaccino on her recognition as the FCPS 2023 Region 3 Outstanding Secondary School Teacher at this year's FCPS Honors event, held at George Mason University Center for the Arts on June 14th.

Cristina Procaccino portraitCristina's Latin classroom defies the adage that Latin is a dead language. She shares her love of learning with her students and creates a welcoming, inclusive, and joyous classroom atmosphere. Students explore their individual interests as they "time-travel" to the ancient world and excel in Latin contests and competitions. Cristina creates a strong sense of community for her students by establishing traditions and building relationships with families, colleagues, feeder schools, universities, professional organizations, and students and teachers worldwide. She also works as a leader within her professional communities to promote and present on collaboration, multilingualism, linguistics, and engagement in language classrooms.
