I am so excited to share with you the results of Edison Future Business Leaders of America's participation in the 2021 Virginia FBLA State Leadership Conference! Even though it was a tough year with this year's chapter activities, projects, and competitive events were completely virtual, Edison FBLA was named Virginia's MOST OUTSTANDING HONOR CHAPTER for 2021 on April 23, 2021 at the closing session of the State Leadership Conference. This rare honor is a result of years of work, reflection, and refinement by students and advisers, present and past. The previous title winner had held the Most Outstanding Chapter designation since 2012.

Reflections Winner
Congratulations to Aiden Riley, who placed 1st in Virginia for the PTSA Reflections competition under Film Production for his film “Looking Within Me”. Aiden will move on to complete at the National level. Good luck Aiden!

Thomas A. Edison High School Named Recognized by the Virginia Board of Education
We have been recognized for high student achievement or continuous improvement by the Virginia Board of Education. This award is based on performance and practice during 2018-19 and prior years. We were honored based on the following criteria:

• A 10-point increase in the combined rate in reading and math, and in the pass rate in science;
• A 10-point increase in the combined rate in reading and math for two or more student groups across three years;
• A decrease in the chronic absenteeism rate for three years; or
• For schools with a graduating class, an increase in the Graduation and Completion Index and a decrease in the dropout rate for three years.

We appreciate that the support of our Edison families to their children’s education is critically important in reaching this milestone.

Here are just some of the awards and recognition Edison FBLA received:

Junior Jorge Mansilla was installed as the State Vice President Representing the Northern Virginia Region.
Imran Hussein, Jorge Mansilla, Christy-Judy Nohra, Leah Nohra, and Andres Sanchez completed the Virtual Leadership Experience.
Leah Nohra and Jorge Mansilla were recognized for completing the various requirements for the Business Achievement Awards, for student achievement in service, education, and progress:
Christy-Judy Nohra and Leah Nohra were recognized for completing the requirements for various levels of the Community Service Awards.

In this Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight, we feature Sebastian Bonaiuto, who is making the best of his senior year, and in the fall plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh.

In this Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight, we feature Brandon Alliata, who is making the best of his senior year, and in the fall plans to attend Towson University and will major in elementary or physical education.

In this Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight, we feature Rowan Cusano, who is making the best of his senior year while looking forward to attending Virginia Tech in the fall.

Girls Basketball did it again!
